Secure IT Equipment Collection, Data Wiping and Refurbished PCs in Devon

Business laptops and desktop PCs ready for secure IT disposal collection

Upgrading your computers shouldn’t leave you worrying about where your old ones end up, or what’s still on them. iTechmonster provides secure IT disposal in Devon: we collect unwanted laptops, desktops and other IT equipment from schools, academies, councils and businesses across the county and the wider South West. We securely wipe every drive and give you a certificate for each one. Wherever possible, the equipment is refurbished and reused rather than scrapped. We’re a local Okehampton IT company, supporting organisations across the region since 2017.

How it works

  1. Tell us what you have. Send us a rough list of the equipment (type, quantity, approximate age) or ask us to come and take a look. We’ll confirm whether collection is free or quote a fee before anything is booked.
  2. We collect from your site. We arrange a time that suits you, collect the equipment and give you a signed collection receipt matched to an asset list (make, model and serial number).
  3. Data is securely erased. Every working drive goes through secure, certified data wiping, and you get a certificate for each one. Drives that have failed or can’t be wiped are physically destroyed.
  4. You receive your paperwork. You get a data erasure certificate for each drive, a destruction record for any destroyed drives, and a final report tying everything back to your asset list.
  5. Equipment is reused or responsibly recycled. Usable devices are refurbished and given a second life. Anything that can’t be reused is recycled responsibly, in line with UK WEEE requirements.

Who it’s for

  • Schools and academies clearing out old classroom laptops, staff PCs and IT suites, and needing evidence that pupil and staff data has been removed.
  • Multi-academy trusts refreshing devices across several sites.
  • Councils and public sector teams that need a documented, auditable disposal process.
  • Businesses of every size, from small offices replacing a few PCs to larger firms decommissioning a whole floor.
  • Charities and community organisations that want old equipment reused rather than thrown away.

What you get

Secure, certified data wiping of hard drives and SSDs
  • Free collection and wiping when your equipment has resale value. If the equipment can be refurbished and resold, we collect and wipe it at no charge. If it has little or no resale value (for example, very old or damaged kit), we’ll agree a fair fee with you up front. Contact us for a quote.
  • A data erasure certificate for every drive. Each certificate records the drive serial number, the device it came from, the erasure method and the result.
  • Physical destruction of failed drives. Drives that can’t be wiped are physically destroyed so the data can’t be recovered, and recorded on your report.
  • A clear chain of custody. An asset list, a signed collection receipt and the final certificates, so you can show exactly what left your site and what happened to it.
  • A GDPR-conscious process. The paperwork supports your obligations under UK GDPR to keep personal data secure, including at the end of a device’s life. You remain the data controller, and we can work to your data protection requirements. Every job is handled in line with UK data protection requirements.
  • Reuse before recycling. Giving a working computer a second life saves far more energy and materials than shredding it. Only equipment that can’t be reused is recycled.
  • A local Devon service. We’re based in Okehampton, so you deal with the same people from first call to final certificate.

A fully compliant, documented process. Your equipment stays in a secure chain of custody from the moment it leaves your site, and every step is recorded and handled in line with UK data protection and WEEE requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Is collection really free?

Collection and data wiping are free when the equipment has enough resale value to cover the cost, which is usually the case for business laptops and desktops that are still in good working order. For older, damaged or low-value equipment, we’ll quote a fee before booking, so there are no surprises.

What equipment do you take?

Laptops, desktops, all-in-ones, monitors, tablets, servers and networking equipment, plus loose hard drives and SSDs. If you have something else, ask us and we’ll let you know.

How do I know our data has been removed?

Every drive is either securely wiped or physically destroyed, and you receive a certificate or destruction record for each one, linked to the device’s serial number on your asset list. You can keep these as evidence for your data protection records or an audit.

What happens to drives that don’t work?

A failed drive can’t be wiped with software, so we physically destroy it so the data can’t be recovered, and record its serial number on your report.

Do you work with schools and councils?

Yes. We understand that schools, academies and public bodies need a documented process for disposing of devices that hold personal data. Our asset lists, collection receipts and per-drive certificates are designed to give you that audit trail.

Which areas do you cover?

We’re based in Okehampton and cover Devon and the wider South West. Get in touch if you’re further afield.
